Michiko
A mother in Baguio City with no culinary training, working an online job, who was not especially fond of chocolate herself. She wanted to make something that looked professional rather than homemade. Twenty to thirty boxes a day at the start. Inside a year, the business had made its first million.
“Hindi naman talaga ako mahilig sa chocolate. Mahilig ako sa dessert, oo. Pero sa chocolates, hindi talaga. Tas wala rin akong formal background in making desserts. 'Yung vision ko talaga do'n sa brand is pagmukhain siyang as if hindi siya homemade. No'ng ginawa namin 'yon, parang nagtiwala nalang ako sa sarili kong kaya ko talaga.”
“I wasn't really into chocolate, I like dessert, yes, but chocolate, not really. I also had no formal background making desserts. My real vision for the brand was to make it look like it wasn't homemade. Once we did that, I just trusted myself that I really could do it.”
